THE SYSTEM History

DJ 10.29 started off apprenticing here and there with DJ Jawbreaker a house, Trance, Breakbeat DJ in Upstate NY in 2000. Learning basic concepts of mixing and basic beat matching on a set of Technic Turntables in small dive bars in his small lil town.

Fascinated with music since an early age, making mix tapes and later on music video mix tapes 10.29 always kept his love of a wide variety of music close. Moving to Texas in 2003, 10.29 was forced to sell alot of his music just to get by. Meeting Breye 7X in 2004-2005, 10.29 started rebuilding his music collection with Breye 7X's help. Hosting an 80's retro Club night featuring Resident DJ Breye 7X called Red Square, 10.29 got the craving to once again get back into DJ'ing and sharpen his skills.

With the close of Red Square a long lull occurred and 10.29 and Breye 7X took a Hiatus. 10.29 continued to build his collection of music and take in every show within the EBM, Industrial, Electro spectrum. Seeing how things were done and how the club business works with Red Square, 10.29 envisioned his own night. Contacting his friend DJ Dead of Tormented Radio and former DJ of Numbers Underworld as a partner on the night. DJ. 10.29 set out for a home for his Idea called The System.

After roughly 6 months of fruitless searching 10.29 had made enough contacts and friends within the club industry to be able to book a Launch Event at The Meridian in Hosuton, TX. Contacting his long time friend Breye 7X, 10.29 was able to bring together a powerhouse team of 3 DJ's all with one focus. To be the best damn club night in town/the area for EBM, Industrial, Electro Music.

Breye 7X Coming out of retirement and now on board made the team complete and from there The System was born and finally saw the light of day on August 24th 2007. During it's run, The System booked bands such as Asmodeus X, and Ctrl, hosted a variety of CD release parties for bands such as Dawn of Ashes, Cylab, Null Device, Fake the Envy and Pride and Fall. Several DJ's have also graced the decks at The System including Andy Laplegua, Front man of Combichrist/ Icon of Coil/ Panzer AG, DJ Cognition, DJ Anomalous, DJ Mina, DJ Nickalicious, DJ Pthalo, DJ Rob, and DJ Whisperwish.

The System was also known for coupling great DJ's spinning with local artists. Most notable events were a screening of films by horror film maker Kevin Devile, and the first ever Live Flesh Hook Suspension DJ set in Houston, done by CoRE and DJ 10.29. DJ 10.29 still remains as one of only two DJ's in the country to do this.

The System officially closed it's doors in August of 2008 after DJ 10.29 decided to move to California. From there, The System had been dormant for almost 2 years while DJ 10.29 put his new life together in the East Bay Area and pursued an active career as a performance artist and Marketing Director for CoRE.

After nearly 2 years, DJ 10.29, finding a lull in his performance art career and personal career as an IT consultant, decided to resurrect The System once again and make it's home in the East Bay. The decision came after months of debate, scouting locations, and taking in the local music scene. Upon finding a void in the music scene for the East Bay Area, DJ 10.29 decided to open his club night at The Oakland Metro and give patrons something fun to do with a focus on a broad format of music and sensible pricing. After 2 events at this venue
it became clear this was not a good fit and The System closed down once again.

During the closure of The System DJ 10.29 was asked by DJ Shatter to spin with dieMASCHINEN, an underground club night in San Francisco bringing the late night party
every 3rd Saturday. Eventually DJ 10.29 was asked on as a resident and became the promotions/propaganda mastermind for dieMASCHINEN and it's founder, DJ Shatter
decided it was time for dieMASCHINEN to once again rise into the spotlight at a club in SF.
Working together Shatter and 10.29 found a home and negotiated a deal at Club Mist in SF.
It was decided that this night would have an overall parent name and each week a new theme night would find it's home each Tuesday. The parent name became The System!
The first theme night being dieMASCHINEN at The System!

From there a new page has begun and The System lives once again! We hope to see you all there and look forward to bringing you some of the best dance music in the Bay Area!
