DJ 10.29 started off apprenticing here and there with DJ Jawbreaker a house, Trance, Breakbeat DJ in Upstate NY in 2000. Learning basic concepts of mixing and basic beat matching on a set of Technic Turntables in small dive bars in his small lil town. Fascinated with music since an early age, making mix tapes and later on music video mix tapes 10.29 always kept his love of a wide variety of music close.

Moving to Texas in 2003, 10.29 was forced to sell alot of his music just to get by. Meeting Breye 7X in 2004-2005, 10.29 started rebuilding his music collection with Breye 7X's help. Hosting an 80's retro Club night featuring Resident DJ Breye 7X called Red Square, 10.29 got the craving to once again get back into DJ'ing and sharpen his skills. Opening The System soon after, DJ 10.29 was able to finally have full creative control over his own club night and develop a following in the Houston area.

DJ 10.29 has been the touring DJ for Provision, opened for System Syn, Spun with and booked at THE SYSTEM Andy Laplegua of Combichrist/Icon of Coil/Panzer AG etc etc. (DJ Scandy) who is a good friend of mine, mentored with DJ dead of Tormented Radio.com who was also a resident at THE SYSTEM in Houston along with Breye 7x who is a retro 80's DJ in Houston and frontman of Provision/Bamboo Crisis and a few other bands. Breye 7x also is part owner of section 44 records.
DJ 10.29 has spun at Numbers in Houston, Meridian in Houston, Jet Lounge in Houston, Engine Room in Houston, Elysium in Austin, did a DJ set while suspended from 6 gauge hooks at DNA Lounge for the 20th anniversary of Body Manipulations/Flying Tiger Circus.
DJ 10.29 is a resident DJ at dieMASCHINEN as well as THE SYSTEM.

DJ 10.29 likes to spin: combichrist, vnv nation, suicide commando, god module, system syn, imperative reaction, glis, e-craft, grendel, Retrosic, Pride and Fall, Assemblage 23, Apoptygma Berzerk, Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, Front 242, Frontline Assembly, Das Ich, Hocico, and Amduscia to name a few.

amyDJ Pthalo

Real Name: Amy Purple
DJ name comes from: See Bio
Age: 34

DJ Pthalo jokingly describes her pseudonym's origin as the product of “too much time working at an art supply store.” In truth, she has long exhibited a love and passion for the visual arts, often incorporating it with her love for music. The word Pthalo, short for Phthalocyanine, is often used in conjunction with colors, such as blue. It is a crystalline, synthetic pigment used in painting.

Having no real apprenticeship (but much natural talent), DJ Pthalo started DJing out of a misplaced (but well-meaning) sense of obligation to provide something for Houston Goths to do every night of the week. She began DJing in Houston, a city with select few nights throughout the week that interested her, so she set out to enrich the city's music scene so others may gain some enjoyment from her musical tastes.

DJ Pthalo's first DJ gig was at The Cellar. She was the lone DJ on Tuesdays, spinning Goth, Industrial, and Experimental music to keep the floor moving until close. She then moved on to be a resident DJ at 804, located in the basement level of the infamous Montague Hotel in downtown Houston, spinning their Goth/Industrial night. She became a resident DJ at Numbers for their Underworld goth night, and was there from 2003 to 2011, spinning Classic Goth, Goth Industrial, Synth Pop and New Wave. Her ability to read the floor and keep patrons dancing through her entire set made her a well-loved staple, and got her name out around Houston. At the same time, she was a regular guest DJ for the nomadic goth night called haVok. Over time, she was asked to spin guest spots at Etro on their 80's night, as well as other guest spots and special events around town. The owner of Dare Ware took notice of her renown and talent, and asked her to DJ his various fetish parties throughout the year. This brought her to such large venues as The Meridian and Warehouse Live for Dare Ware's Fetish Balls, Crystal Balls and the Texas Bondage Ball. DJ Pthalo moved to California, and made her San Francisco debut in January 2012 at Mist for DJ 10.29's night, The System.

DJ Pthalo enjoys spinning Goth, Industrial, Synth Pop, New Wave, and Experimental, though she is happy to meet a challenge and spin outside of her comfort zone. She is not above spinning weddings and bat mitzfas. She's DJed many events and parties, spinning everything from Oldies to House. She enjoys listening to the music she spins, and has a broad musical taste outside of her usual sets. She discovered her passion for music at an early age, and has spent the rest of her life expounding and developing her mental soundtrack. While others dismiss the mainstream or the unknown out of hand, she will give every sound she encounters carte blanche until she has heard enough to decide whether she likes them. This has resulted in her having a number of “guilty pleasure” bands that she will not bring up unless asked.

She enjoys dressing up, and will never show up to a venue looking like her name is Rufus. This has garnered her a large following of the fabulous male persuasion in Houston.

Influences and indulgences include but are certainly not limited to early Frontline Assembly, Gary Numan, Cabaret Voltaire, Niter Ebb, KMFDM, Severed Heads, Ultravox, SPK, Adroxy, Soft Cell, Haujobb, Zoth Ommog, Wax Trax/TVT and Cold Meat Industries catalogs, Visage, Poesie Noire, Pet Shop Boys, Nick Cave, Brian Eno, and Edward Ka-Spel.

Pthalo admires the works of Jose Guadalupe Posada, De Chirico, Hans Holbein, Tura Satana, Coco Chanel, and Alfred Hitchcock.

Darkmoon’s Gothic roots can be traced back to the Munsters, the Addams Family, Dark Shadows, Night Gallery, and any movie with Barbara Steele. He heavily attended Goth clubs in the late 1990s, with favorite hangouts being Roderick’s Chamber in San Francisco and The Box in Santa Cruz.

Darkmoon began his DJ career under the training of the late and great Sean “GOBO” Keily. Darkmoon had his first lessons on Gobo’s decks in his own home. Gobo then arranged for Darkmoon’s club opening at The Box in Santa Cruz on Christmas Eve 2001. He will always be grateful to Sean, his mentorship and his friendship. Gobo was not only fun but decent, kind and fair. They had really good times together on the decks. The last time they spun together was 14 December 2005 at the DNA Lounge with Conjure One and Unwoman as the live acts. Gobo passed away on Friday 13 June 2008 of cancer.

From 2002-2004 Darkmoon was a resident DJ for the Screamworks production company. They put on huge weekend long parties at BayCon on the balcony of the San Jose Doubletree Hotel. Screamworks also produced OddBall, a series of events held at the Veteran’s Auditorium in Santa Cruz. Darkmoon was the last resident DJ to be brought into Club Deviation in San Jose. On one evening there he opened for the band Bella Morte. He was for a short time part of another club after that, and helped to promote several other events.

In 2004 Darkmoon began performing at the Dickens Fair as a member of the Adventurer’s Club, whose members portray real historical characters. His roles include performing as the  personal attendant to His Royal Highness Prince Albert, and Joseph Sheridan LeFanu, author of many ghost stories and the vampire novella Carmilla.

Many of his colleagues at the Dickens Fair, especially those from Fezziwig’s Warehouse are also active contributors to the PEERS events, http://www.peers.org/ with a focus on 19th century ballroom dances such as the waltz, with live bands for music. Many people who attend these events are Goths longing for a more historically inspired scene.

Since 2005, Darkmoon has been the principle DJ for PEERS at their annual Bal des Vampires, which is the first Saturday of November each year. The music played at the club, recently renamed NIGHTFALL, is not just music about vampires, but music for vampires.

Darkmoon will mix music in unconventional methods, with Eastern European, Middle Eastern, soundtrack, Dark 80s, Dark Ritual, Euro-Goth and D’Ambient as part of his mix. Bands can include Absurd Minds, Blutengel, Cruxshadows, Die Form, In Strict Confidence, Love is Colder than Death, Qntal.

"This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no."
